I want to thank those of you who responded to my last post where I asked your opinion on the allocation of salmon between Native Americans and Non-Native Americans. Thanks to your help we placed 1st in our district competition. Now we will begin preparing our presentation for state competition in May. There is a good chance our issue will be publicised. I do have a few more questions plus more later. Thanks again for your help!

1. Where can I find info about $ generated by Sportsfishermen in WA for slamon hatcherys.

2. Who/Where would be a good place/person to get more info from.

3. We have to make a portfolio which includes where we have made public presentations. Do any of you have ideas of groups we could present to?

4. Who would be a good person to interview? (we need both Sportsfishermen and Native American view points)

5. What happened to the court case of WA+OR v. The "Unfair Pair." Is it still pending? Where can I find info on this case?

Thanks again from the entire Evergreen Ag issues team.

One miscellaneous resource that might put you in touch on a number of those questions would be the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission in Portland.

Good going Garrett. I will give your Q's a shot here. ....

1 - Use the search feature on the upper BB page to find a couple good posts on the economic impacts by sportfifshers in WA (also Oregon). Or you can e-mail BB member "Jim" (look for his posts and then click on the mail letter icon above for his address). I think he was the one who posted that info.

2 - Contact Guy Norman, the ODFW negotiating rep for the Columbia allocations.

3 - The Assoc. of N.W. Steelheaders meetings would be great. Contact your Vancouver Chapter reps.

4 - Contact NSIA president Liz Hamilton at Luhr Jensen tackle company in Hood River, Oregon. They are very involved in this issue. In a pinch, you can interview me. Contact the Columbia Inter-Tribal Fishery Commission for an interview with a rep.

5 - The lawsuit by the state against teh 'Unfair Pair' was brought as a negotiating leverage instrument. Since they have now agreed out of court and signed a multi year pact I would think the lawsuit would be dropped. Guy Norman or other ODFW or WDF&G public relations employee can fill you in on this and other questions you still have.

Good luck with your valuable project. - RT

For the money issues generated by sportsanglers I would suggest visiting the Recreational Fishing Alliance: www.savefish.com (http://www.savefish.com)

Oregon and Washington both have chapters in each state. A good person to contact, and he posts here from time to time is Mike Gilchrist of the Washington Chapter. I know he has been studying the Boldt decision as of late.
