some ******** climbed my fence and stole my rodholders out of my boat,I'm lucky the dummy didn't steal my new depth finder
I've got in the garage now,man want a dummy now I've got to buy four more rod holders. That really jerks my chain,I guess,I can't leave nothing in my boat anymore. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif
The guy must have been in a big hurry or a real moron not to steal my new finder I'd really be crying, I just but it in my boat two days ago it hasn't even been in the water yet. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif Guess nothing is safe anymore not even a locked gate.

That Sucks! Well at least they only took the rod holders, seems hardly worth stealing considering the penalty if you had caught them.

I am surprised that anyone would have bothered your boat at your house, if I remember correctly it seemed that you lived in a nice little neighborhood.

Maybe the new rod holders will be luckier than the old ones http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bob, sounds like what you need is one of those motion detectors. The part you put outside is wireless and is easily concealed if you paint it black, for example. I think they sell them at radio shack. The other part you can keep in your bedroom or living room. It makes a loud pitch sound, enough to wake you when it is tripped off by someone entering your yard or driveway. That part is plugged into the wall socket. It works with infrared so you dont even need the area to be lighted! We own two, and have stopped alot of theft from occurring so far, believe it or not! CROOKS ARE EVERYWHERE!!!

This way, you can surprise them with your friends, Smith and Wesson! Believe me, it wakes you up with the adrenaline flowing! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Bob, one more thing.....I ordered my alerts from a company in Minnesota (I think) called Dakota Alert. They are $200 each but I dont have any sleepless nights anymore! Worth it when I think of how many times thiefts have tried to steal my 9.9 four stroke!!!!

Thanks for the info on the alerts,I'll try to find them.I've had other stuff stolen before but the police finally busted the drug lab behind my house and I haven't had any proplems since its been about three yrs now and I started leaving stuff in my boat again. But washougal is growing in leaps and bounds and along with growth comes crime my dog is to old to be much help anymore so these alerts sound real good.
Thanks again. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What kind of Depth Finder do you have? I would like one that is invisable to crooks. I also like the idea of protected by S&W. Remeber Gun Control = a steady grip.

Nothing worse than having your **** stolen.
Sounds like a large dog may help to prevent it from happening again.

Sorry to hear that Bob,I feel you're pain, after my theft last year ,we've made a lot of changes to the place.
As for the dog I've got a 92lb Chocolate Lab...she slept thru the whole Damn thing....well if it would have been the UPS man she'd have all over his A$$ (sorry Jerry) she barks at him just driving by http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif......We're still not sleeping soundly http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I feel your pain Bob, but you came out pretty good just the same. I remember O's calling me up crying about how someone stole all his good gear. I spotted him a zebco to get him back on his way http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well on at least 3 occasions (maybe more) I've had all and I mean all of my bass gear stolen from me and I was hardcore when it came to fishing about 7 years ago. I think on 2 occasions they made off with around $2K each time, and around $600 the last time. Every time, they would have to get around the dogs and go into a locked shed.

Ya know the sad thing too Bob is that those 4 rod holders would catch the thief a Theft of Property 2nd degree (T.O.P.II) Which might be around a $200 fine, probation, and community service. That's of course, if the DA doesn't plea bargain. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Oh yeah, you also just advertised about your fish finder, which is a big no-no because it could be someone you know, so nail that thing down!

Yeah, well make sure you sustain an injury while interrupting the thief. That escalates the charge to Robbery. Not that it really matters, they just get ticketed and released. The key to deterring crime is to provide an appropriate and immediate punishment. Or to deny the criminal an opportunity.

I keep my boat in the garage and my gear locked in my house. The baseball bat is there to provide a deterrence. Any one stupid enough to break into my garage or my house is leaving the premises feet first strapped to a gurney.

Nuf said.

I learned this trick from beekeeping and trying to keep skunks away from my hives, works great for keeping people away from my "stuff" too. Nail strips. I take 3in wide peices of plywood, and drive nails through them. space the nails so they puncture. I put them infront of the entrences to my shop and outbuildings. not so easy to see at night if someone is lurking around. Plus, anybody who's O.K. to get into my stuff, knows about them and avoids stepping on them.

Bummer Bob, I'll let you borrow Moose, the only problem is if they will throw a ball for him he'll help them load the stuff in their car. But he'll bark enough while their playing to wake the dead. Mary says tell Charlie hi.

Sorry to here about theft etc. but the nail strip on the surface seems like a good idea - it isn't. It is an awfull idea, you might a well open your check book and write one for $10,000 now because if a criminal ever did step on one you would get your @ss sued off.

Let's see. Officer, I heard a noise in my yard, out by my boat. My friends and I went out to investigate, remember Smith and Wesson? I beleive that it is a felony to threaten anyone with a gun, even on your own property, unless it is a life threatening situation. Or, officer, I can't help it that he steped on a rusty nail while trying to climb thru the window of my shop to rip me off. Kinda sounds to me like a drug dealer reporting that someone stole his drugs. He would have to incriminate himself.
I don't know about your place, but Iv'e seen nails laying all over the place...
