This is a real deal...its actually happening.I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service Tech who was conducting a test on telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test i should touch nine(9),zero(0), the (#), and then hang up.Upon contacting the phone company i was informed that by pushing the 90# you give the requesting individual full access to your phone which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number. I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many local jails/prisons. I have also verified this information with UCB Telecom, Pacific Bell, MCI, Bell Atlantic, and GTE. Please BEWARE DO NOT PRESS 90# for anyone. The GTE Security Department requested that i share this information with as many people as i could. After checking with VERIZON they said it was true so do not dial 90# and hang up for anyone. Please pass this on to as many of your friends as you can. I know this has nothing to do with fishing but i think it is an appropiate subject to share with all of you. CAGEY.

I got scammed on a vacation package to the virgin islands. Don't buy anything over the phone unless you intiate the call. Took me a year to get my money back....but I paid interest on it the whole time http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif. This was about 20 years ago but still holds true today.

Thanks much Cagey - much appreciated! ....

And gee Marty, you fell for that virgin island scam thing too, all those years ago? I guess us silly guys looking for the elusive rare virgins were easy prey. ..... http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif
