Ok, similar to my post awhile back on aluminum, now I have a new question. I know a customer on one of my routes who's an old boat builder. He's getting old and getting out of making boats (he builds prams and driftboats). Well, for all these years I had no idea he built the things (probably because he built them in his garage and never put them outside until it was time for it to be picked up).
Here's my question. He only would build these boats for friends. He has his last boat and wants to get rid of it. It's a 16ft glass boat, pretty wide (I don't have measurements). Is complete glass, no aluminum at all in braces and such. Has full seat up front, rowers bench with rope seat, and small housing on the back (you can add a seat for a rear person). There are no actual swivel seats on the boat. It has the side pull anchor system with cleat up front. It has two rod holders installed. He has two ash oars he may throw in with it. Problem is, he has no idea how much to sell it for. You get the boat only, maybe the oars too with above features I've added. No heaters, no trailer, no swivel seats, no anchor/rope, just the boat. He makes an exceptional boat. Reminds me of a cross between a clackacraft and an eastside. How much do you think it's worth? It's wide and deep. Looks pretty stable and has only been rowed around the sound, not on a river. So, what do you think?

Hey Marty, I guess I need to buy you some glasses. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif It's a 16ft boat, not sure on the width, but it's pretty wide.

Sounds like a nice boat. I got rid of my glasses but it doesn't help me. Mind just wonders some days. For some reason the glass boats just don't sell for as much as the used aluminum. I miss my Puma even though I didn't use it much. This low water is where it shined.

sh69, I'd say $1000-1500 range. Clackacraft
offers the whole package for about
4k on a new set up. Check their website... www.clackacraft.com (http://www.clackacraft.com) might be a place to deal
for accessories and or trailer.

Ok guys, I was thinking in the $500 range. Sorry nuttinbutnet, but I'm taking first dibs on the boat. I love my cat, but there are days I want to pull plugs or take my kids. It's easier to do both in a driftboat over a cat.
If by chance I decide not to buy it, I'll pass it along....

I paid $1600 for my old high side clack with a pretty good trailer, ready to fish a few years ago. The prebious owner couldnt catch many fish. The 6-800 figure sounds about right

A real man can pull plugs in a cataraft http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Just put the kids up on the pontoons, and just consider it part of the natural selection process, plus it beats the playground at McDonalds....lol j/k
Friends don't let cat-Friends buy driftboats....because I've rowed them and will row again if need be. Just to make me appreciate my cat even more http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Good Luck with the boat Jerry, hopefully it will put the family into fish, and get your kids hooked on it instead of that "stuff" O's is hooked on. muh ha ha ha ha

Nahhhh, don't worry guys. I'm still a cat guy. I used to own driftboats way back when. I was only going to buy it if I got it cheap enough. Figured I could have it for days I fealt like having high sides (especially those cold windy days like on the Satsop float).
Hey Ya'll, I can pull plugs with my cat, just damned hard to do it. Man, talk about double time on the oars....SHEESH.
Well, looks like I won't be buying it. Guy went from "I'll make you a good deal on it" to "I want $2000". I was like "WHAT?!?!?!". It's a new boat, but still homemade. He'll settle for $1500, but I won't pay that when I can buy a complete package for that.
Hey Os, I'll be calling you this week/weekend about the frame. I'm ready and rarring to go.....

Good deal ,I'm home,
Mrs. Os. stopped by the local nursery yesterday so I've got a lot of job security.
