I fished the Siletz with a freind of mine yesterday. We floated from Twin bridges to town. We put in at 6:30 and took ot at 3:00. We fished hard, We didnt even get a trout bite. This is the first time in about 25 trips on The Siletz that we ended up getting skunked.
I cant figure it out, Im wondering if it was my friends new boat or my new rod that caused the Mr. Skunk to visit us.
What do I do to remove the awful stench of Skunk? Im afriad it might be so strong that it will affect future trips.
Any help would be appreciated.

Willie,
Was that new boat chrissened (sp), if not than that was your problem. I've found that a brand new bottle of Jack Daniels works reak well, toaste the new vessel and then proceed to polish off the fifth the night before your first trip. Fishin with a hang over is the only way to break in a new boat. I don't believe it would have been the rod because their like a magical wand, you wave them around enough then your dream comes true. We got the weekend coming up, I know what I'ld be do'in Friday night if I were you or your friend.

Willie I have the answer!http//www.vin/Petcare/Articles/Petconnection/PCF02840.htm Anyhow here is the formula. 1 Qt of 3% hydrogen peroxide(avaiable at drug store}1/4cup of baking soda(sodium bicarbonate for your science types} and 1 teaspoon of liquid soap such as ivory. Mix and immediately apply to the stinky pet. Rinse thoroughly with tap water.

Hey_yall - were you a little slow peeling the duct tape in your younger skunk chasing days? http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hey Smiles', that restraining order wasn't for putting bananas in fish boxes http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif Hey Willierower, wash the skunk off with anise.

RT, Should I tell em what the restraining order was? LOL.
SteelieSteve,
The South Santiam really doesnt have enough fish at the moment to make it worth fishing. I usaully start fishing it in mid April. The North has a few fish, But nothing really going on where I usually fish it.
We need rain bad, Hopefully when it rains that will wash off the skunk stench.

You might try airing your boat out... maybe burn some incence, and clean up all your munchie wrappers... they're a dead give away you had the skunk on... It's been years for me and for some reason I can't remember more skunk removal thingies....

Leave your license and tag at home next time you go fishing. That should guarantee that you catch fish. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Leave your camera at home.

The camera had dead batteries, So I dont think that was the problem.
You definetly dont want to forget the license and tag when you fish the Siletz, Its a state cop hangout.
