Since I have never fished the Columbia for Spring chinook , I would appreciate some information on catching them. I have fished for Fall chinook with moderate success, but was wondering if Springer fishing is done the same way? Information on when, where, how, what lures or bait, trolling, anchored, river locations, water depth, etc. would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey NS, there are several long threads with very good Columbia springer tech that you can find with the search feature. It's different than fall 'nook fishing. More trolling herring (whole red pack size or red or green plug-cuts) or prawns with 55" leaders and 2 ft. lead droppers; and wrapped K-15 Kwikfish work well also. I suggest you troll where you see other boats springer fishing. With this clearish water this year try out in 25 ft. +/- of water. If the outgoing tide gets strong enough then anchorup to fish the above stuff. - RT
