Salmon love to key in on lures with eyes. For that reason I purchased some of the largest dumbbells I could find specifically for chinook. Using my proven shrimp hybrid pattern, I tied up some jigs on the bullet-proof Owner 3/0 jig hook using the huge dumbbells. The results were simply amazing. Every chinook inhaled the jig so deep that I had to use pliers to remove the embedded jig. The big buck in the lower picture was no exception. That is why I like to use 25-pound mono for my leader.
