I've been lucky enough to catch springers on all baits and lures, except a Kwikfish.
This year --- MUST CATCH FISH ON KWIKFISH!!!
LIFE NOT COMPLETE!! DREAM KWIKFISH!! HELP!!
My question - What is best size kwikfish for
springers and is herring or sardine wrap better? (I believe I know where to go and
how to use them)
Thanks in advance - must go take medicine now to help sleep!! Can't wait to fish.

Size: depends on the water color, speed, body of water, etc, but in general I stick with the K14 and K15. I use the K15's early in the season when the water is running high and fast, and the K14's later in the season when the water has dropped and cleared.
Wrap: sardine, sardine, and sardine.

Last year we started hooking up with kwikfish the end of april, first of may. All take downs save maybe 2 were on K-15, the 2 came on K-14. All were Sardine wrapped.

The K-14 is designed to run in fast water, the K-15 for medium currents, and the K-16 for slower water. I prefer sardines and make sure to wrap up several Kwikies the night before to save time on the water and insure that your wraps are put on evenly. Good luck and tight lines.

Justin, are you always trying to wrap up a kwikie the night before you fish? http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif ...
I agree with the above, but don't overlook using the old standard U20 Flatfish in chrome with blue scale color, with just quality herring oil spread on it's back and hooks (not on the underside where it may dampen the flash). Put on one size larger than stock hooks. Slowly trolling this rig when the lower Willamette or Columbia is relatively on the clearish side is very productive at times. I speculate that it's the high frequency vibrations and/or it's closer resemblance to a smelt that make it a killer some days. - RT

Spinger, I've used sardine/herring butter with success on Kwikfish, on the under side only. It doesn't apply well to a wet lure and at the end of the day you need to wash the lure well to remove the residue.

Thanks for all the input. Excellent idea on setting up the night before. Sounds like sardines are the way to go!! (Kwikies the night before?? Hmmm?? Gotta love fishin!)
