So, you spent last saturday drifting eggs for steelies and now, 4 days later, the skin in peeling off your hands. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif
What do you use on your hands to keep them soft so your wife doesn't throw you out of bed? http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Drifter,
Bag Balm, best industrial strength moisturizer on the market.
Tip - when I fish with bait either from the bank or out of my boat I wear a pair of surgical gloves. Keeps the smell/chemicals off your hands and keeps your smell off your bait. And the wife thanks me for not having stinky hands all the time.

Hands down Bag Balm!
If is is good enough for the tit it is good enough for my hands.

Lmao@Jet... I haven't a clue what Bag Balm is being relatively new to the US. However, since i've been here one thing I have found that gets out the toughest of engine grease, and also the smelliest of smells is a product called *Seascape Liquid Soap, and Anti-bacterial* We purchased this from a store named *Bed, Bath and Beyond*
I don't know how wide spread in the US this store is, but give this liquid soap a go.. I swear by it, and I NEVER complain of Fuzzy having rough hands! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif http://www.angelfire.com/wa2/angelnz2/blush.gif

Artwo - tried the surgical gloves. Worked great to keep hands clean, but seemed to get in the way when working a baitcasting reel. The worst was when you had a fish on and trying to thumb the reel for extra drag. I suppose you could throw the gloves off each time you got a fish. What do you recommend? Thanks, Drifter.

Bag Balm is a product developed for the dairy farmers to help soften chapped cows ****. When milked often and always wet the **** became chapped. Dairy Farmers were first who noticed the benefits. Their hands would get chapped when milking and when using BagBalm on **** the product got on their hands and a revelotion bagan. You can buy BagBalm at Bimarts and many feed stores. Softer Dairy farmer hands, the cows liked it better also... but that is a different story.

I like Corn Husker brand lotion. It works great and is not greasy. A lot of lotions claim to be non greasy, and seem greasy to me. This is one that is not greasy. Bag Balm is good but really greasy.

Drifter,
I've not had a problem while wearing the gloves either with handling the reel or thumbing the drag. It did take a little getting use to at first, just had to remember I had them on so as not to put to much pressure on the reel. You do loose a little sense of touch but I,m use to it now. You know though, once I started wearing them all the time my catch ratio went up allot. I'm a firm believer in them now and rarely fish without them.

Bag Balm is #1. I have horses so I use it for various things like rashes. Not something I carry in the boat, so at the end of the day, a good stout shot of WD-40 works wonders. No...it won't hurt you as long as you don't try to use it for Visene.
Jet- is it appropriate (e.g.; politically correct) to call a tit a tit on ifish? Gets the point across I guess and doesn't bother me. Cows are cows until you try to milk a bull.

Bag Balm is good, but found "WORKING HANDS CREAM" created and made (by a farmer) out of Joseph, Oregon. They have a toll free # (800-275-2718)...nicest people....they will send you some direct or tell which big stores carry it in your area. I waterfowl hunt and winter fish and got terrible cracks until I found this one. Feel better and make points at home.......no, no affiliation with whoever owns this company.

Bag balm works great. This product has been around for awhile and has really worked well for me.
