Tips on changing Gear Oil ?????

I have had my boat now for a year and a half. I have changed the oil a couple of times, but not the Gear Oil. I have a 115 4 stroke Merc. and a 8 horse Merc. Can the averige Joe take this task on or should I pay to have it done???

piece of cake. do it yourself. West marine has a fitting for the gear oil quarts...screw on top of quart, screw hose end into lower unit fill hole, lower one (obviously after draining old oil)then simply pump in the new oil till overflows out top screw. Have screw at your fingertips to reinstall, then unscrew hose end and reinstall screw... definately not rocket science...you'll save a bundle. It's one of the few things left we can do ourselves, especially on four strokes.
