Any old, unwanted laptops or PCs out there? A friend in northern BC who can't afford to buy her kids new ones is going to home school them and could sure use someone's discards...

Ive got a dell laptop. But you'd have to buy a power supply and battery for it. Probably not easy to find. (ebay?) worked great last time I shut it down. PS got thrown away and batt is dead. CD rom and 3.5 in a shared bay. Its a latitude CPi-r pentium II Might look around the net for a battery and Pwr supply.

If your interested Ill be in your neck of the woods very briefly Saturday.

I have a battery and power supply that should work with that laptop. Mine froze up a few years back and I still have the components. Let me know, I am in Albany.

Net Boy, the power supplies for most dell laptops of that era were recalled in 04 because of fire danger. I threw mine away for that reason (but never got the free replacement in the mail!) A replacement would have to be the updated model or I'd be afraid to donate it to a childs needs.

Its a challenged offer, but I have it to give away if you want it Bill.

OK, I still have the battery. The new owner could go online and order a new cord to replace this one. Just a thought.

I should have a couple of Dell Pentium 2 desktops that you can have within a couple of weeks. I'll let you know as soon as they are free. I should be able to arrange a trip to PDX to drop them off for you shortly there after.

R-v-W, et al...thanks very much for the offer, but I'd prefer not to present them with a fire danger. They lost their house three years ago while on vacation (a few months before their son drowned).
If you think I can find a safe one without much trouble, I'll take it...
