Anyone caught a springer on a bobber and a jig? Or are they just used for steelies? I am going to have to try that method next time I am up there! Hopefully soon during springer season!!! Is it raining??? Good luck all you ifishers!!!!

I caught a fall 'nook in the Wilson on a 1/4 oz. jig tipped with a piece of sandshrimp tail on the hook bend the first time I used them with 'nooks around. I think coastal or Cascade trib springers will take that setup, especially after they hold up in the holes. Try the pink and white patterns first, with the shrimptail added; 1/4 oz. for smaller coastal rivers and maybe the 3/8 oz. for the bigger inland rivers. Try to keep the jig closer to bottom for 'nooks. Good luck and let us know how you do with this. - RT

Yes!! I second what Steve said. They also like Sky blue/white and red tipped with shrimp or eggs. Good Luck-John

Hey Fishin M: How do you add eggs to a jig? Sounds verrry in-ter-resting. Thanks, Drifter.

There are a couple ways to add eggs to your jig...Very effective. You can use straight cluster eggs for a natural presentation and hold them in place with a dental rubber band looped around the jig eye and the egg cluster. One of my favorite low water tricks.
The second way is basically the same except you use a spawn bag to put the eggs in first before fishing. To keep the bag away from the hook point use the rubber band trick again. Eggs/shrimp can also be free floated on regular hooks below a float....very effective also. Tight Lines

Chinook will take jigs just like Steelhead will. I've been surprised by Salmon several times when fishing for Steelhead. I think the Sandy and Clack would be great rivers to catch Springers and Steelhead at teh same time. I've done it on coastal rivers in June.

Marty- you answered the same way I would on #1 and the second way I havent tried(spawn sacs) But I will try it . The other way I do it is dry some egg clusters until they are almost dry to the touch, and then put them in Borax. They stay on the hook really well and moisten up after the first cast or two while the skein remains tough.(Basically the I make these the same way I do my drift fishing eggs so they stay on better)Hope this helps http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif~John
