I am on a budget and want a fishing / hunting boat. There are a ton of options, I like the 20 foot smokercraft sportsman, the 19 foot freedrifter, and the 18 foot hydro that browns sells. I am a fair weather fisherman, ie summer steelhead and sturgen, but also love duk hunting. I have seen quite a few used boats, but the price isnt that much lower than new boats. The predators are sweet but not cheap, same as a new NR. New or used please give me any input before the boat show. Thanks for any help.

The Hydro is made by Idaho Boats in Lewiston. Good boats IMO and they will work with you. I'd talk directly with them and bypass Browns.

Best thing to do figure out your budget, figure out how you want the boat laid out, decide on must have items and then the nice to have items. Think about the dimensions of the boat and if you have space to put it. Think about what you want for an engine. Go to the show and spend a lot of time looking and asking questions. Go for a ride or two.

Then prepare to spend all your extra money on it.

Good luck.
