Anyone have an idea of the gallons per hour a 2000 mercury 115 pump would consume?
Thanks..

Should be about 12, if you're talking about a standard 115hp outboard (which would be making probably 80 hp with a pump). Generally you can figure a gph for about every 10 hp. Less if you run at less than full throttle, obviously.

With a 317HP - 350CI Chevy W/ Holley 650 CFM Carb I think I'm getting at least 1.7 - 2.2 GPH with my 20ft Jet Boat why so much for the outboards?

I think a carbureted 350 just idling might burn around 2 GPH. Maybe you are thinking of MPG.
My 175 Sportjet does 5 - 8 GPH, depending on how I run. It's unlikely a v8 is burning 2 or less. I've been on boats that burn as much as 2 gallons a mile - which at 30 MPH works out to 60 GPH.

I was referring to gallons per hour at wide open throttle. When you're running half throttle you're not making anywhere near 115hp and thus not burning nearly as much fuel.
My 225 EFI burns a healthy 22-25 gph at WOT. The good news is that I can go almost 60 miles in that hour so it's still getting 2.5 mph. But the bad news is that it's a LOT of gas. If I run around at 30 mph instead, I burn a lot less gas.
Likewise the 115hp is probably only burning 5 or 6 gallons per hour at minimum planing speeds.

Thanks a lot for the info… Much appreciated.
The reason I asked the question is my fuel gauge seems to be broken so I was looking to get a general idea on how long I could run before I should be concerned about fuel..(15 gallon tank)
Hopefully I can get the gauge fixed in the near future.
Thanks again for the info, very helpful..

Fuel gauges in boats are notoriously inaccurate. If you really want to know whats going on,you need a fuel flow meter. Depending on the one you get,it will tell you how many GPH you're burning, how much fuel you've used and how much is left in the tank.

FWIW, I burn about 5 gph at around 30 mph in my 20 ft inboard jet in Puget Sound on about a 16 mile run one way, and 1/2 day of trolling with my 9.9 on a normal day. I burn about 7 when the water is rougher. Of course, there are also a few short bursts to restart the trolling passes. This is a rough calculation based on the following. Start with full tank, fish all day, fill tank up. My friend and I and our gear total about 700 lbs. I usuallly use about 12-13 gallons, but I've used as much as 17-18 when the water is rougher, and I have to use the trim tabs to push through the waves.

The general rule of thumb is about 10% of your moters hp at wot

I get roughly 6 gph with my Merc 80 jet at about 3/4 throttle and that depends on how steady my throttle hand is,my left hand developed a bad twitch,so somedays the gph is worse

Gee, my boat is burning 600 gallons per hour at 2 mph. Might be time for a tune-up or something.

I try and note my hours on the meter when I fill up. I can then figure my aprox. usage and how much i have left....which usually has me going back for more.

225 evinrude oceanpro seems to burn 8 to 10 gph at 3500rpm or less
