If you don't mind sharing a trip idea or dream (for the improbable but possible), post a description &/or picture of yours (Jen, let us know if a lot of pics slow downtime too much, and we'll think of something). See below this pic for a description.

This is the Kitlope River in NW B.C. (pic and article from Beautiful British Columbia magazine). It is a total roadless river area. This awesome river flows into Douglas Channel (saltwater inlet); the same one the Kitimat River flows into. While the Kitmat is a great river, road access has taken a toll on it's runs in recent years (I fished it in '89 when 40,000+ huge Kings swan up it - best fishing I've ever enjoyed). The wilderness Kitlope R. still runs thick with trophy steelhead and Kings, as well as the other salmon species. The run timing is similar to other NW B.C. rivers. Only a very few people ever fish this river. A couple helicopter services out of Terrace, B.C. drop off fishers with a raft and all gear; on gravel bars like you see in the pic above. They come back to pick you up near the river mouth a few days later - if the brown bears haven't gotten you (take bear spray; the capsasin pepper type, and the AK47 type wouldn't be a bad idea http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif - actually, bears in these type areas aren't used to people and most often will run if you make noise coming around corners). Fishing in the mainstem and up tributaries, like the one coming in from the right, should be as good as it gets anywhere on Earth (if the river is in good shape of course - which it usually is in the summer - the roadless Kilbella R. in from Rivers Inlet B.C. likely would be comparable). These 2 are at the top of my dream wish list. There are lots of others right in there though. Share some with us Ifishers. Thanks. - Steve

My choice would be the Kamchatka river in Eastern Siberia. It is an uninhabited area that has one of the few remaining strains of pure wild Steelhead in the world. The average Steelhead is 15 pounds with many running over 20+. I'd have to take up fly fishing though as that is the only way you are allowed to fish for these beauties.

My choice is an easy one, it would be the Naha river in southeast Alaska. several of my friends have already been there. 31 steelhead caught in one day, all Natives, and all released. Nobody there but the bears! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a fishing video with Gary Loomis flyfishing on th Panoi River in Russia.. dozens of Atlantic salmon landed every morning.. fly in on the old Military helicopter, stay in framed tents. Pretty cool.
I also have a video about the Chasing of the Czars trout. Huge brown trout 10-15+ pounds... in Russia.
So I guess my dream fishing adventure would have to be to Russia.
My wife and I have always wanted to ride the Trans-Syberian train from coast to coast, maybe we can fit in a flyfishing trip too. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kamchatka for big shouldered steelies. Preferably on the southern end of the peninsula where it's less tundra like and more like our rivers. Dry flys!

How about Mongolia for Taimen, the world's largest salmonid?
Check out this link for additional info: http://combat-fishing.com/taimen.html
Picture this, you go hunting for prarie dogs and lemmings in the morning so you have bait for the rest of the day. "Cut plug that lemmin' Jimmy, we's gonna get us some 6 footers!" http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif And that ain't no shiat!!!
Sight fishing for troutlike fish that get up to 200+ pounds? The only freshwater fishing that could top that is poolside at the Playboy mansion. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Joe, can you write fishing trips off on your tackle company? Including field testors you take along? Maybe a copter ride over the B.C. Coast range is in order someday! And if not then we can settle for a consolation; a trip to the "Sauk It To 'Em Steelhead Ranch and Massage Parlor" up in the North Cascades http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif . Hey Justin, I saw the 'Fishing The West' program on TV with Larry and Buzz Ramsey fishing for a few days for those huge Taimen over there. They only caught one. It weighed 90+ pounds if I recall right. There and Kamchatka are great places. But they will cost you a lot more than the wilderness river trips in B.C. and AK for a similar adventure I think. Gotta do both! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just for variety, consider fishing out of the most remote fishing camp in the world (as measured by distance to next nearest permanent habitation -- 190 miles). It's in the Kimberly region of the extreme north of West Australia, just south of East Timor (couple hours flight: no swimming). The land is harsh, with no rain from May-November and about 80" December-April (plus the odd hurricane a year or three). Get there via float plane or helicopter.
Fish with Bluey Vaughan, the only guide I know who quotes from every book Dr. Hunter S Thompson published. Target species are the usual suspects in that part of the world: barramundi, threadfin salmon, mulloway, mangrove snapper and 30 other estuarial all-sorts. Inshore fishing for Spanish macks to 50lbs, Giant Trevallies to 80lb, northern bluefin tuna (< 30), queenfish (< 20), and anything else with jaws. Offshore fishing has never been tried. No commercials.
With the Australian dollar around 55 cents, all you need is a cheapo flight to Darwin and the rest is going to cost you a lot less than about anything else described on the board -- certainly Mongolia and Kamchatka.
I'm booked again for the last 10 days of Sept 2001. Shoot me an email if anyone wants a copy of my trip write-up from this past September's adventure.

I tried to attach the picture, but couldn't figure out how...something about being computer challenged. In any event, a friend of mine sent a picture of a 22 lb. sea run German brown that he caught fly fishing in Pategonia last Fall. You'd have to see it to believe it! Argentina, here I come!

Some place tropical like Belize. Or anyplace where I can slay the marlin while deep-sea fishing. Nice, great sunshine, trolling for marlin, with a plethera of ice cold coronas. Senoritas wouldn't hurt either, but I'm fishing. Scratch that...senoritas would be in order along with the plethora of ice cold coronas, but the chicks would have to be tan http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif Oh yeah, and hot.
That or fishing down in South America on some of the rivers for peacock bass. Fishing technique would be topwater lures only. Too busy working the lure to drink beer, but I'd have the cooler full of ice-cold coronas too for the riding around parts of the trip.
Also, in my deep sea fantasy, pletheras of tarpon could be included. Now those are my fishing fantasies. No pics needed, just use your imagination.

This is a tough one, there are so many spots, including BOE's that he described above.
However I would have to say that my dream trip would have to be to some of the places I have seen from commercial airliners. I don't even know where they are exactly, just super remote streams, running through snow capped peaks. Big green valleys, that have to be loaded with wildlife, trout that have never seen an artificial. Best of all, no people. All you have to do is find them, which could be half the adventure.
I have guided in alaska, and that was excellent, fished several years for Marlin in Mexico, but I have to say the above fantasy is the one that I keep coming back to.
Someday, but this d%$m work thing keeps getting in the way!!!! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am going to Alaska in July, and a friend of mine goes hunting in Poland and says that fishing is good there. My dream location is a remote island south of The Cook Islands. My uncle goes there and has sworn me to secrecy about its actual location. It is one of the most primitive places on earth. The natives there still fish with chicken feathers and bamboo rods(no reels). They catch all kinds of fresh and saltwater fish.I think that this year in Nov. or Dec. I might just go. It is summer there at that time and is 90 degrees http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif.Russia is also noted for it's awesome steelhead, A friend of mine went last year and got into some real trophys!!!!

My favorite place is and always be Alaska fishing at the foot of Mt. Mckinnely.
That magistic mountain is awsome!
Back packing in the Alaska wilderness and fishing every stream we came across in the early 70's.
Very hard to beat Alaska fishing!
I was raised there and miss is alot. But I really am stuck on Oregon now and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Grrrrrrr. This is a good post, but I'm angry. I'll tell you my dream destination with my heartbreak.
One of mine is same as Marty's. Had heard about and read alot about Tierro Del Fuego in Patagonia. Monster searun browns as big as 40lbs. Was making arrangements with the Flyshop in Redding to do a trip down there. I had called about just rates for fishing and boarding. (I had it made, my exwife worked for airlines and we had arranged an almost free trip down to WAY WAY WAY South America). Well, exwife did her thing, we got divorced, and my trip was cancelled (had to pay for an attorney and being a single Dad with two kids took the rest of the money since my ex pays no child support to me.)
My second one was almost completely free. My old manager was a regular marlin fisherman down in Mexico. He had a captain he always used and had arranged a big discount for me (he would fly down there at least 3 times a year to fish with this guy) and with partnership with Alaska Airlines we had it made for supercheap airfare. Well you can guess the rest. Same problem that cancelled number one cancelled number two. I was crushed.
I will say this, I have flyfished for actual German browns in the German Alps back in late 80's when I was an exchange student in Germany. I had a friend who's Dad was a diplomat and he belonged to a flyfishing club. (It seems the only way you can fish, hunt, play soccer, tennis, or most things is to actually belong to a club.) I had a blast and the scenery was beautiful. Now all I need to do is head back to Germany, free room and board. Now all I need is the airfare and I'm set......

I would like to do a wilderness salmon fishing float in AK. You know - goats in the mountains bears, carabou and moose in the valley and enough salmon and trout to burn up a reel and give you tennis elbow when you get home. Don't forget... not many other people to fish the holes out befor you get there either. That is my dream trip http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
