I'm planning on installing another bilge pump in the boat. The boat has a single pump and one thru-hull output. would I need to install a seperate line and another thru-hull for the 2nd pump? I'm trying to avoid cutting more holes in the boat if possible. Any opinions on the best method?

Thanks,

Pesonally,I'd cut drill another hole in the boat and have two seperate systems. If you use a "T" or "Y" you run the chance of backflow with the pumps. You turn on a pump and the water doesn't go over the side,it goes back in the bilge. You can add a check valve, but then you run the risk of the valve getting clogged or stuck closed. You turn on the pump and nothing happens because the hose is clogged.

ALWAYS use another thru hull fitting when adding another bilge pump . having it hooked up to its own power source is a good idea also .:smash:

seperate line and hole. If your in a situation when you need both running to keep you floating you dont want anything prohibiting the amount of water be discharged.

I had a manual on mine and added an auto... its a good way to tell how hard its really raining in the spring :)
