View Full Version : What Bait Would Catch You?

If fish could catch people, what bait would best catch you? Since I am definitely a 'biter', most 'people' baits would catch me quickly! This one in the pic below is good but if fish could find a way to put ice cream on a hook they would get a smashing instant hit from me! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey RT, you're asking for trouble from the sponsors again. You can only guess what kind of responses you're gonna get....like mine http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Ok, here's what will catch me. I'm more a visual/scent type. I'm more the hunting type to catch, say a doe scent. Here's what'll catch me.
Shania Twain and Faith Hill in a mud wrestling ring inviting me to join them.
Enough said.... http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

HEY R.T. I think money will pretty much wipe out the whole run. A nice clean twenty dollar bill laying there all innocent , I think that would be the #1 catch everything under the sun bait of choice... http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BACON.........I'd go for a nice strip of bacon on a Texas-Riggin'. Might wanta give the bait a quick spray of WD-.....I mean French Roast Coffee Scent.
Ever seen the side of Skip Baldwins boat (Rogue River Guide)? The whole length of the boat is a picture of a salmon with a pole that has hooked into a giant pair of (human) lips.

When I looked at this post last night I just knew it would turn into a beer commercial. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif The razor clam would do on a good day but if I was tight lipped and the fish were having to work for there catch they'd want to toss a deep fried ocean scallop at me! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

A bologna and liverwurst sandwich with cheese on rye bread. Or perhaps a nice prime rib with baby red potatos or how about a nice piece of smoked salmon, steelhead or sturgeon. Razor clams if present right would do the trick and that pizza I had at Kim's house would definately do it. A Sol mas fin cerveza with a lime would do it too. Hell just about anything would catch a big slab like me. BUT figure out how to put a vintage ABU Ambassadeur on a hook and that'll do it every time.

Here's a true funny co-incidence for ya! The 'people bait' in the cartoon is a hot dog, obviously. I fished the Trask with Roy (Bait O' Eggs) today and he had not seen this thread yet. He anchors up around noon, gets out a small gas BBQ, and puts 4 hot dogs on the grill, and had the buns and mustard too. I got a kick out of that one. Before I bit into mine I opened it up and checked for an 8/0 hook with leader going into the water http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif . ... We fished a fast rising and coloring river there today and I caught a bright 7 lb. hen on a jig before it got too messy. Thanks for the hookless people bait, and doing most of the rowing Roy! - Steve

Well, food and sex are related or so I'm told.
So how 'bout a cafeteria lunch tray piled about a foot high with steaming hot crawfish, white sweet corn and new red potatoes, extra paprika. Or maybe some hot Boudin sausage. Only can get this at 'The Crawfish Hole' in Nachitoches, Louisiana. No hook but I'm sure a net would fall out of the sky while I was chowing down.
Or ... well, only blue eyes knows for sure...
let's just say its visual....

A couple pounds of Hickory Farms hot pepper cheese and a box of Ritz crackers. hmmmmm...... Just a second I just drooled on my key board. :wipe: :wipe: Maybe a block of Tillamook cheese and some good liverwaust on crackers. Still got slobber running down my chin here. I gotta go clean up this mess. I will get back to this fat boy club fantasy later.

Lynn, you came up with one better than ice cream - well depends on the flavor I guess; but that broiled (or BBQ'd) lobster tail dipped in salted garlic butter is hard to beat for hooking into this 240 pounder! ....
'Yall, if the fish could get Trish on a large enough hook without piercing any plastic ... it would be 'Steve on' http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif .

Mikie a five works really well, Get out a stout rod with some 10# maxima clear. Fasten a small rock to the bill and then the line. Set it out on the sidewalk and hide. When someone comes along and bends down to get it is when the fun begins. You have to be quick though, I have lost some money, both from them grabbing it and from being chased.

Once hooked, well, I'm sure I would dog down to the bottom much like a tired and fat chinook. My wife, on the other hand, would jump and run many times and probably throw the hook. If not, she would find a good snag and do the ole line rub trick - she fights dirty.

In the winter (really cold weather) I'd probably take a fresh, warm, tollhouse cookie in a minute - even jerk the rod right out of the fish's hand (fin). The cookie would have to be fresh baked with lots of chocolate chips. I wouldn't take a store bought cookie with all of the preservatives.
I'm not a good biter in the summer.
