I am wondering if I am the only one who goes out onyo the Columbia in a 10ft. Jon-boat with a 3h.p. motor to fish for gators? You all will prpbably think I am nuts, but around The bend, close to shore, always watching for ships and debris, I have had some good times, and landed up to a 45". I also have an electric trolling motor, a charged up battery, fire extinguisher, and always wear a life jacket. Also anchor up with 100ft. of line. Cant go into debt, so I use what I have.

I was thinking of going after them gators using a float tube. I saw this done by one of those fishing show yahoos. He seemed a bit shaken when an oversize tried to swamp him. Might have to tow another tube for supplies http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif.... maybe in the summer.

I quite often launch on the Lewis river and come over to St. Helens, I fish at the point of that small island, I will typically anchor up in 30-40 ft. of water, do not let me plant ideas in your head, I have been on boats for a long time, I am 49 yrs. old, if in doubt, I dont, any WIND, I am OFF the river, Now.

Please be careful guys. With an outgoing tide and a NW wind the Columbia is very dangerous. I had an experience with a friend last fall. 16' Smoker/40hp Merc near the bottom of the outgoing the waves were so large and the current ripping so fast off the tip of sand island, we barely made it in. My pal had gotten scared and given me the tiller..."oh, thanks, now I get to kill us." It can get nasty real quick.

....and Dustin, get away from the stinkin' computer and work on your project. 6 nations , 6 regions, GDP, HDI...Monday is comin' pal !!!
