Is there any difference between automotive 5/16 fuel line from NAPA and 5/16 fuel line from a boat shop? Other than NAPA gets $0.99 per foot and the boat shops get $2.50 a foot?

Yes, there is a difference. Marine grade is CG approved and there are two types. One used on the portable fuel cans that can't be used in enclosed areas and another grade used in the enclosed areas. Who said owning a boat was not expensive?

So if I'm running the fuel line under the floor from the front to the back of my open fishing do I need to use the special CG rated marine line for enclosed spaces???

What you use is up to you. If there is a problem and an insurance company becomes involved who knows what the outcome might be.
There must be reasons for the different type of ratings. And I'm not the one to ask. The CG probably can tell you where to look to find the specifis regulations. Or maybe you can ask one of the regional boat builders.

hello, yes there are two types of marine fuel hose, the first one is type A1 which is fuel line that has fuel in it at all times the second is A2 which carries fuel but is dry most of the time. so type one is fuel supply hose from fuel tank to engine and type 2 is fuel filler hose and vent hose.

There may be added UV resistance or abbrasion resistance characteristics in the marine line. I'm sure the CG could answer this.
