Interested in opinions/experience with different makes of 4-5 hp single cylinder 4-stroke kickers with respect to dependability, noise, smoothness. Thanks.

do a few searches for threads about "small outboards". there have been a few lengthy discussions recently. I started out being interested in a 3-5 hp motor for my driftboat, but I've decided that it needs to be higher if i'm going to get upstream in strong currents and against winds in bays.

Freind uses a 5 hp honda for a kicker and swears by it, he uses it mostly for springer trolling.
