Well friends, ocean fishing for 2006 was certainly tumultuous. The ocean coho never got started, and for the 2nd year in a row ended up being poor. As with lots of fish, they ended up being out there, but showed up late, and after the season was already closed.
The good news is that bottom fishing, halibut fishing, and tuna fishing was great!
We had some absolutely exceptional days in all venues, with another full season of all bottom trips limiting out, most with full scores of lingcod to boot! Every halibut trip but one ended up being a full limit success, and we had double digits for every tuna trip for the year.
One of the big highlights of the year was a successful organization and outcome of the Oregon Tuna Classic where Nalu Charters placed in a tie for 6th out of close to 50 competing teams!
Halibut started stong and finished even stronger. We started the season with a full group from I-Fish, and ended the same!

Tuna fishing was not easy due to varied weather, but we had some banner days, and I-Fishers had some great battles on their hands! Double, Triple, and Quadruple hookups were not uncommon, and there's nothing quite like having 5 rods with blazing tuna on all at once!

We had some real dandy fish this year, with porkers abounding. These guys will put a blister on your thumb if you don't pay attention!

So, 2006 was definitely a stellar year once again. I-Fishers abounded, and they went home with lots of fish, and a even more memories of great times.
People are already starting to book for 2007. With a limited number of halibut trips available, even though the season isn't set, reservations are being taken for the weeks that they will most likely be. From now until April, any full boat booked for halibut and tuna will get $100 off the 2007 full boat price. For halibut, that's $800 for 4 people instead of $900! For tuna a full day will run you $900 instead of $1000!
Thanks for a great 2006, and here's to 2007!
