Fished the Klickitat yesterday, after looking at the lower Deschutes and finding choco-water. Wasn't much beter on the Klickitat, with 12-18" clarity. Nary a tug on my line. 'Twas a beautiful day though, with eagles and wild turkey frolicking about.

Thanks forposting. I almost drove up to the D myself today, some people never know when to call it a year! So it is muddy, I have not been up there for about two plus weeks, and I think I caught it just before it blew from the rain and got a couple? Were you down low?

I thought about giving it one last shot over the holiday but maybe best to call it a year?

Yes, I was down low (actually the lowest you can get- at the mouth) on the Deschutes and found the conditions unfavorable. But I'm not giving up on the river yet, as I have had some great steelheading in November and even some in December. Just need the White R. to settle down a bit.

I was just reading a report from the Deschutes Angler Fly Shop and they said that there apparently was some mudslide on the Metolius which is causing the outlfow from Lake Billy Chinook to be muddy, in addition to any White River effects. Sounds like it will take a while for the river to clear up.

Fished it over the weekend above the locked gate. Water was really turbid, but didn't look "muddy" to me... more like the color of the Crooked River on a really bad day. Visibility about 6-8 inches, only 1 fish caught (nymphing).
