can someone point me to a vest with lots of pockets, that I could use for steelhead fishing? Also, any reports on the Sturgeon fishing around Astoria/Tongue Point would be apreciated. Tight lines make happy times

COLUMBIA!!!!! I Have a couple vest's by this co. and really put them through a lot of abuse , they hold up really well. Here's a little tip on washing your vest after you get it broken in ie stiff from egg goo - dead shrimp - worm's shrimp sauce @ sardine oil . Put a cup of water softener in a five gallon bucket , then fill the bucket half full of water, soak your vest overnight then take it to the laundry mat, wash as usual. P.S. Don't use your own washer . http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Sturg-
You can't go too far wrong with Mikie's suggestion on Columbia. I've been using one for years and they are well built with a fair layout of pockets.
One strong suggestion is to get one with a padded collar of some sort. Mine doesn't have that and after constantly adding and seldom subtracting crap, it will really do your neck in if you cover lots of ground in a day. I bought a new one last year that I haven't used yet from Orvis that has a bit better pocket layout for my use and a nice padded collar. Got a good deal on it otherwise wouldn't buy one for the cost of the name.
I've had good success spraying my vests (and most everything else like your hat) with Kiwi Camp Dry. Little better product than Scotch Guard and waterproofs great. It also prevents "goo" buildup somewhat. Available at Bi-Mart in the gun section.
For cleaning, my wife buys stuff you see on TV called Oxy-clean. I'm not much on TV stuff, but this really works! It will take EVERYTHING out of the material with no damage at all and leaves it just like new. Best thing we've ever found for cleaning the drip trays on the stove...takes grease and all off completely.
