Thanks to BOE, Hook and Dennis (TBC) for bay info. We didn't do so well however. Crabbed most of the incoming with 4 traps and two rings at crab harbor and ended up with 12 legal, 3 of them were pretty soft. We must have pulled up 15 gazillion little dinkers. Tried for sturgeon for a few hours of outgoing. No bites at bay city or the corral. A few boats were in these areas and didn't see any action while we were there. Running from the corral to bay city at low tide was hair-raising to say the least! One of the few times I was glad to have a 12 degree V. Oh well beautiful day, sunny and flat. Should have hit the jetties for some lings, talked to one boat at the marina that had broken off 5 of them... Joe

Lings on the jetties? Really. What were they using Salmonator? Tell us more. I can feel an urge to go coastal coming on big. My blood salt content is below acceptable minimums.

didn't get details. My bro-inlaw busted one off the other day off the N. Jetty at newport. I think they were tossin' motor oil grubs. Herring under a slip bobber would probably get em'.... Sal

Thanks Salmonator, I like the oil colored curly tails myself. The other thing that works well is a mooching rig. Yes, rigged just like fall nook fishing. Use a whole herring with 40# leader. Only thing I change is I use a white or glow in the dark split tail worm and jig for the weight. 50/50 they will hit either the jig or the meat. Sometimes a sea bass on the herring and a ling on the jig.
Ok we got the talking done, lets go bottom fishing. BTW watch out for the huge waves when you're near the jetties, they will eat your lunch!
