I went out on sunday for a couple of hours after the morning football games. I thought I would try the Clack below the old high rocks bridge. This happened to be the only stretch without someone on it! Anyway I could'nt help but notice the trash that was left there from the slobs who fish this metro area stream! I would like to see the state do something about this. My idea would be to have on your fishing licence a statement above where you sign your name saying if you're caught littering you forfiet your licence for the next year.It may not stop people from littering but with their name signed to it they might take a minute to see what they are signing their name to! It may cause people to think before they do it again. Just my 2 pennies worth-----Fishhead Vic

That's another good idea Vic. You should submit that one to ODFW.

Yea it makes me mad too, but depending on the trash type, don't be too quick to blame fishermen...That is a hang out for dope smokers, boozers and at risk youths...even in winter.....

wads of monofilament, bait containers, hooks, tackle packages ...

Don't be too quick to NOT blame the fishermen. I always try to remember a trash bag - it's hard to have much impact around that area, though. I try to focus on the monofilament, 'cause I've seen birds wrapped up in it ...

people cant read. havent you ever seen how many people stay in the left lane when there are 5 signs saying left lane ends or closed?

IF YOU PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT.

I agree that we need to do something about these slobs! I too fished the Clack Sunday at Cross Park and noticed a new annoyance... those damned latex gloves were everywhere. Who started that whole absurd idea?? Pack it out !!!

One time I was walking up to an area alot of people bank fish and I see these two brain-surgeons whipping beer cans over their shoulders as they're fishing(they didn't see me) I act like I didn't know they were the ones littering and I start to go off about how some A--HOLES don't respect the river and how could anyone with half a brain throw trash around and I start cleaning up, then these two guys put down their rods and start to help me!!! They also start agreeing with me and swear the next guy they see littering is gonna have to answer to them. I had to laugh to myself, but I think it made them realize what they had done and I bet they think twice about throwing garbage now.....

Yes the river bank there is full of trash. During the summer months, you have a different type of trash that is found. we fished there last summer and found several needles and other bits of paraphalia. Too bad. You have to be careful where ever you go anymore. I try to carry a small plastic bag in my vest and carry out some of it, but I don't like the idea of picking up the needles.

Vic how was the fishing? Trash burns me out to. It's to bad some people just don't care. The sad thing about it is if there was a trash can there some one would probably throw it into the river. It seems to be the way things are or people are.

People never cease to amaze me! One time we were out on a party boat on the east coast. There was a trash can on board which everyone used and by the end of the trip it was full. After fishing and on the way in I watched in amazement as the mate picked up the trash can and dumped it over board. It still baffels me to this day.

Hawgcatcher and everyone else....BEWARE of picking up bags and other stuff with your bare hands..needle sticks in this day and age are nothing to be trifled with. In many cases better to leave the trash there rather than risk injuring yourself.

I have fished this stretch of river for many years. The trash is disgusting but it seems to be inherent to the easy access areas that all of the gapers can get to.. They just don't have the nuggets to go over to the coastal rivers and fish and they know that if they went there and conducted themselves in that manner they would get ostrisized by there peers (or shot). I am ashamed for all fisherpersons when I see this type of disrespect for our mother nature.. Sorry I can't do more than check my own trash and any around me.... see ya when I see ya

edit--ah crap I spelled some more stuff wrong http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey Myfish, you need to check your e-mail more often. I left you a note about the one that got away. Let me know how you do this week since you have to work this weekend.---------Later, Fishhead Vic
