Don't laugh. :(
Charlotte, (otherwise known as "sharly") is my favorite banty chicken. She talks to me... coos... she's blonde and she's beautiful. :(
She's missing.
She didn't come home, tonight after roaming the yard. If she is out, she will be eaten overnight. No doubt.
If she is in the garage, she will be fine. The light was left on too long, and sometimes the chickens will hide in there. I hope that's the case, but I can't find her.
I'm so bummed. :(
Please pray for her.

I'm just so frustrated with this new dog. :( She chases chickens.
So, now we have to lock up the dogs when the chickens roam free.
So... now we have no protection for our roaming chickens. Kilchis and Dee Dee used to run outside, barking, whenever they heard the coyotes. Now, Bill keeps the dog door locked, so Kilchy whines and heads for the door to go run after critters and now gets bonked on a closed door. Without dog protection, the chickens have no protection at all. :(
The new dog is sweet, but has caused so many changes. The cat hides, and won't sleep upstairs with me anymore. :( The chickens are unprotected... and Kilchis won't run anymore, cuz this dog runs at 90 and tbones Kilchis in the side. She just isn't a nice dog. :(
Kilchis has been seriously hurt by her competitive nature and her rough play.
I'm just so bummed out. I loved that chicken... and yes, I'm blaming it on the new dog. :( The only way Bill can control her is with that electric shocker. I've just never had a pet that needed that. I don't get it. I don't understand why I can't train her, when I've trained so many, many dogs just fine. She just gets so excited that she won't listen.

:(
I am assuming that the chicken is a pet and not food? I don't know what a Banty is.
I always hate to lose a pet. :( Try not to be too hard on the dog though. They are supposed to chase and kill animals like chickens. Maybe she just has that go-like-a-bat-out-of-hell-and-kill-things gene that some dogs have. Is she hard to train?
Is there someone near by that can take the dog and help train her for a while? Perhaps some time away and strict training will help tone her down a notch or two.
I hope that you get your chicken back! :)

She is smart as a whip. Just very rambunctious. Yes, she has that birdy instinct. I wonder if when she was at birding school, if they did that thing where they set the pens full of birds up, and get them all excited? You know, next to their kennels?
I don't know... but it sure was nice having dogs to protect the birds. :(
Anyhow, no, she's easy as pie to train. If I had the time, I'd do more, but it's Bill's dog.
Rev is loving, sweet, smart... but oh so much to handle!
Frankly, (and I hope he doesn't read this!) I think I would like to have a trainer come here to train both dog and owner. Is there such a thing?
Does anyone know of this? Bill hasn't had any training on how to handle dogs, although he's always had them. He admits he doesn't do well training them.
Bill loves her dearly, and after losing his Mom, his cousin, his 14 year old lab, and having lung cancer, getting rid of the dog isn't an option.
We've had a tough couple of years, and it's time to get things back to normal. Rev, (the new dog) has really knocked the balance out of our world, here. Everything is different for everyone and every critter, cuz of her presence.
I really think she should be kenneled every minute she isn't being watched, but Bill gets side tracked and before you know it, the new dog is up the road. I'm so afraid she'll get hurt, or hurt someone or something. She's just so quick. One minute she's here, and the next, poof! Gone!
So, does anyone know of a trainer that comes to the house to deal with things like this?
Charlotte is a banty chicken. A little tiny chicken... So beautiful. She's a pet, yes, and a golden seabright. Absolutely gorgeous bird. She'd coo at me at night when we put her up... and she was a wonderful Mother. Always wanted to have more families, and we wouldn't let her. I wish we had.

Oh, lovely. Now, Rev is throwing up all over the living room carpet.
I think I need to go hide in a hot bath tub.
What more can go wrong, sometimes???

Sounds like God is allowing you to be stretched.
Lord, make this home a resting place for the weary and let it find its new balance in your grace, not our wisdom. Bless those who reside there, animal or human. In Jesus name I ask this, Amen.

Bantys are cool. Took a time out eh? Good luck with Rev, if she was a cat you could grow some catnip to mellow her out.
Fixing our dog stopped his roaming and timing him out in his crate and telling him we don't love him when he is bad did the rest.

Found Charlotte dead, today in her pen. :(
I'm broken hearted. I think about all the baby chicks she had, and what a wonderful Mother she was.
What a sight Bill and I were, out on the deck, me, holding Charlotte in my arms in a towel, dead, both of us crying our eyes out... over a chicken. :(
I loved that hen so much. She kerr kerr kerrrrrrrred at me, when I came near when she had a clutch of eggs... warning me, yet letting me get close.
I'll miss her so much.
