I plan on fishing the sandy for the first time and I was wondering what flies to take and possibly where to go (generally) to get into some coho. Any info is appreciated!! Thanks in advance

Sorry I didn't post a reply sooner, but I've been out of town and away from Internet access for a week.

The best patterns for the Sandy River for coho are dark (black or purple) patterns and various shades of pink egg patterns.

I personally like a Purple Angel; I know one Ifish flyfisher who likes a Purple ESL.

I did well last week during the rains and rise in the river (about 6-8") with peach and/or pink weighted egg flies. I fished them on a dead drift, then let it swing at the end of the drift. Fish the faster water/slots and avoid the pools where the fish stack up. The fish were not shy about hitting the fly that day. Had one take it deep and had to cut the line. Seems like they are either on the the bite or off. I just happened to hit it just right that day. Most were colored up a bit. Caught one bright one, but it was a native. Figures.
