How has the fishing been on the Little Salmon in the Riggins area? Ive been thinking about going up there and fishing for a few days in the next week or so. Also, What type of gear should i bring? I have a 9' 8wt and a 15 foot 10/11 spey rod..would the spey rod be too big for the river? also, since Ive been fishing the N Umpqua all i have is unweighted wet flys and drys..are the fish still active enough to take those, or will i need to pick up some more flys?
thanks
The little Salmon is very low and clear. Not what I would call fishable. The Main is fishing well right now. Use the Spey and your unweighted flies should be ok at first and last light. If you have a sink tip, throw it on for mid day fishing.

Two years ago I went 8 for 12 on the little salmon on the very lower river. I was nymphing with an indicator. Otherwise there's usually a few in there this time of year.

Have you seen the Little Salmon? It's a very small stream that would best be fished with a 2 or 3wt rod.

I was just up there Elk hunting this weekend, and yea its really low. Guess I answered my own question eh?
Its been about 4-5 years since ive been up there, so I kinda forgot how little that river really is...
Oh well, maby Ill take a trip up there when the water comes up!
lol, i would hate to see what happened if you caught a big ****** off steelhead on a 2-3wt

Are you kidding me? You must be thinking of a different little salmon! I wouldn't even dream of using a 2 or 3 wt rod for steelhead! Even when it's low and skinny if you can find some deeper runs you might be pleasantly surprised!
