Okay guys I'm confused. Sturgeon fishing can be fun and fustrating! I'm told that if you do not get a bite in 20 minutes you are to move for that location, location, location. But how about the times when you know you are in a good spot (previous takes) and no one is having any luck do you move or wait knowing that sturgeon move,move,move....???

I know guys who sit all day and not get a bite for hours and then finally hook one late into the day.

Also know guys who move in 20-30 minutes if they don't get a bite at all.

Any wisdom to this?

I always move in twenty minutes if no bites. I usually only fish the most productive part of the tide so I know if the fish are there they will bite. You dont have to move far, at least were I fish. Sometimes a few hundred feet will put you right on them.
I suppose eventually you would catch one if you were in a proven spot but I think its more fun to catch alot somewhere else.

Tough question. Go with your gut on this one. Some days I will move a short distance. Other days I will clear out and try a different spot. Most of the spots I go to will have several boats so you can tell if you're off a little or the fish are somewhere else.

Use your binoculars and radio your buddies. Above all trust your instincts. I have sat all day on a proven spot and bagged the nice fish on the last cast.

The bend is your friend!
