I am working on building a rod and have done a few before that turned out decent except for one thing. The guide eyes are just not perfectly aligned. I am trying to find a more surefire method than just the old eyeball to get the guides straight. If there is an easier way your help would be appreciated.
Thanks
FF

I have built many rods over the years and the method that works best for me is to get them as close as you can and just keep "eyeballing and adjusting" Do all of this before applying any rod varnish. Hope this helps.

When wrapping a two footed guide wrap one side on each guide. THen align them by eye before wrapping the other side. Once both sides are wrapped fine tune them by eye. Once you have done this lay the rod in your wrapping machine or whatever you use. Take a thread and run it through your guides up to you real seat. Tape the end or tack the string center to your reel seat housing. Check that the thread is even all the way down the guides. Another method I use is looking down the rod from butt to tip and tip to butt. Also make sure you have placed the guides on the spine of the rod to ensure proper action and to avoid other problems. Let me know if you have any other questions
