I posted this on general communitry site, but no one has replied yet so I'm trying here. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for the help!

I'm going on a backpacking trip this weekend around the Three Sisters mountains in Central Oregon. I'm hoping we'll be stopping near Yapoah, Demaris, and Green Lakes along the journey because I believe they have trout in them. I'm packing my trout rod and humbly requesting any advice on what spinners or clear bubble float and flies to bring. It would be awesome to catch some high mountain trout after working so hard to reach the lakes in that area. THANKS!

Copper Little Cleo. A dark bodied caddis can be effective if the fish are active on the surface.

I have backpacked into the Green Lakes area 10+ times, and have never brought a rod because of how poor everyone I asked was doing. I will say that the greatest concentration of fish seems to be in the southwestern most green lake, I think a fly would be your best bet, as around dusk you see a fair amount of fish surfacing.....pm me with any questions regarding the area if you have any....

I've gone on trail rides up into some wilderness areas up around Sisters and talked to lots of people who packed in their poles and inflatable boats and stuff but didn't get a bite. Our guide said that most of the fish are really spooky. Still, I think it'd be pretty cool fishing in one of those lakes... Good luck!

First of all, thanks to everyone who responded with advice, I went to Joes and stocked up on a variety of floating and sinking flies and clear floats and some of the recommended spinners that I didn't already have. I was ready.
There was more snow than expected and one guy on the trip got blisters and other ailments that slowed our progress so we didn't make the first planned lake (Yapoah). We stayed the night near west side of Middle Sister and then headed back down. Decided to get beer and steaks in town and then camped at Todd Lake and BBQ'd the steaks. Saw fish activity that evening so tried spinners and flies, but no luck. Water was clear and shallow near the shore. A float tube would have been nice. Tried again in the morning, but not even a nibble.
Packed up that morning and hiked up to the big Green Lake by South Sister, didn't see any fish activity at all, but still tried everything I had and no luck. I should have tried the smaller Green Lakes.
The trip was still incredible and I had a great time. Some day I'll plan a specific packpacking fishing trip.
Thanks again for all the help!

I too have never been to Green Lakes but I go to Three Creeks Lake once a year because it was my Dad's favorite spot and that is where he wanted to have his ashes laid. I did hike into Little Three Creeks in October once: The brooks had left the lake and were in the creek and I didnt want to bother them there if they were spawning. I also always see guys going up to green lakes carrying tubes.
Why I am writing is be ready for snow Three creeks lake is about 6000' and I beleive where you are going is higher. Tell us how it goes. I have always wanted to go up there but I was under the impression it was about 14 miles and never made the time.
