Where can I catch some crappie in the Portland/Vancouver area? I have OR and WA licenses.

I vaguely remember catching something crappie like in some sloughs on sauvies island a LONG time ago. Maybe Vancouver Lake has them?

Ok, so like a piece of worm under a bobber or something?

I've got a 14' boat, should I take it somewhere specific in there?

I've never been there, and I haven't been much of a warm water fisherman. Thanks!

Use crappie jigs with a SMALL STYROFOAM bobber. you nee the jig about 18 inches under the bobber fish right next to the brush. Drive you boat next to the brush on sunny days and you will see the crappie moving, stop and fish. Styrofoam bobbers are VERY important, you can make MUCH better casts near the brush. Just keep moving till you find good numbers. HINT: small patches of pads are a great spot to fish and canal bend corners are good to. I twitch the bobber and let it sit for about 3 seconds and twitch it again. This should help. as for jig colors I like yellow / white for sunny days and black and yellow for cloudy days. REMEMBER THE LIMIT on crappie at silver! no crappie under 9 inches can be kept and no more than 10 crappie per person per day. Fishing will be even better next year!!!!!!!!

The crappie are back in sheltered canals and you will not have any problem with wind!

Would getting 10 before midnight and 10 after be a better way of saving time and money

If you are using them for sturgeon bait and not eating there are some places closer to Vancouver.
