Fishin' the Umqua [Archive]

I fished the Umqua with a friend and, alas, the water was cold and so was the bite. I didn't catch a think until we stopped over a few bass we could see. I threw everything at them until I got something that worked. I pulled two out and the others got spooked. We moved on down the river but all we caught on the day was 2 14" and 2 dinks and one jack that was about 18". Next year I will go earlier.

Last Tuesday I was there and it was a dinkfest. The water was in the low 60's at that time, so I would think it's still OK. What temp. did you have? Also, the S. Umpqua yesterday was good for 6-10" fish, which means the Fall action is yet to come.

The South Umpqua is closed to all fishing until Nov 30th so be careful if your fishing it for bass right now :grin:
