Thanks again Roger for the great tips on fishing the senko and splitshotting. Roger had a half a dozen fish landed before I landed a dink of a smallie. We had great fellowship and Roger is a great source of bassing knowledge. Roger had to leave early so I dropped him off at the ramp and I  went to the north end as the wind started to pick up. I rigged a 3 inch watermelon red flake senko on a 1 EWG hook texas style with a 1/2 weight, and had to go to a 1 ounce weight when the wind really started to blow and was able to boat nine bass. I had to stay in the creek channel following it out to 25 feet of water and thats where they were. The biggest was only a 15 inch largemouth but it was fun to find the pattern and hook some fish. Thanks again Roger for the good times. God Bless you all. Tight lines Hans.

Hi Super fluke. I do not know if you have been to Hagg Lake but it is small and is fed by only 3 creeks. Part of fishing fun is to find different places and patterns that you discover and then when you are able to catch fish it makes the experience that much more enjoyable. With only 3 creek channels and the imformation already provided I think that you can finish the puzzle. I am not trying to be mean. I think that when you establish a pattern of your own you will find it to be more satifying. I know that the spot is no secret. God Bless you and tight lines.

I am not trying to step on anyones toes. I am not in the same league as alot of you guys out there. And that may include Superfluke. I love to help people out with the knowledge that I have. And we should show people how to fish and show them the techniques we have learned. That includes the basics of structure fishing and teaching people the yearly movement of bass. Sharing places with people that are fishing in the same boat is fine. But we need to draw the line at telling the whole world out there about exact spots unless they are community holes and well known anyway, just as I think this spot must be well known.I will give you a example. I was talking to a tournament fisherman that was fishing the willy. He was upset as I was with the decline in the size of the fish comming from the lower Willy. He said it took him years to find this spot that is not obvious to any one. He was catching some nice bass from there. He came back later to find that some meat fisherman who saw him earlier on the spot hauling out and keeping quality fish. I know Hagg lake has a 1 bass a day limit. But I have seen from pictures and from talking to other Anglers that alot of the bigger fish are going home and into freezers for a bass dinner in the future. It does not take alot to destroy a small fishery like Hagg. I know that guys like Superfluke and others would not keep any big bass, but that does not stop the meat crowd and those that hate bass to latch on to spots on spots and ruin the fishery. I love to show people how to fish and I love to learn from everyone on Ifish, but please keep your secret spots to yourselves or a few trusted buddies. Getting a person started in a general area and pattern is fine. I am sorry if I have upset anyone and I apologize for it. We need to stick together and keep this fishery in Oregon going. The state is not much help.

Hans...I am not trying to be mean...but what if Roger told you the same thing when you asked him to go out with you? I know its a bit different but most of us aren't that good and knowing that you have a spot that produces encourages us to go out and at least try. Technique is everything...which I have little of...sometimes I swear that Hagg has no fish in it! You can always PM people and that way it won't be on this forum in view of everyone. I truly need all the help I can get yet I am restricted by the fact that I have canoe plus I won't go fishing without my little boy...makes it tough sometimes to search out all the lakes. Kudos for being a stand up guy and caring about the fish...but don't forget to share a little love with your "Bassin' Challenged" fans...

Thanks For sharing Clyde. I know your not being mean and believe me I share alot with people. I Would not have a problem showing you out at the lake spots. The concern is to make it available to everyone that would go on line and abuse the fishery. I believe everyone shares spots including me. But if you teach a person about how a bass lives in their enviroment, then a person can solve the puzzle of finding bass and maybe a sweetspot of their own. Knowing the general area and at what depth the fish are at and how they are relating to the current situation should be far enough imformation for a person to go out and create a pattern. . Fishermen love to brag and they will tell you about the big fish they caught and on what. And they will tell you enough that you can get out and get some fish. It's the old saying Give a person a fish and he,ll eat for the day. Teach him to fish and he will eat for life. Technigue is important, but all the technigue in the world will not get you fish if you cannot find them. Your talking to one of the Bassin challenged, Believe me. I like what you said about not going fishing unless you have your little boy with you. Thats being a stand up dad which rates a big kudos. Way to go Clyde. That truly sharing.

Go ahead and give specific info, most people still won't be able to find the spot and the fish will probably move anyway, but that info gives a guy an idea of something else to look for when he's trying to locate fish in the future. :twocents:

if you give a spot you kinda need to give the weather conditions as well.. thats the biggest part!

Thats what Im talking about.A person needs to know why that place is a good spot. And fish will move. Example. Say you have a point and the wind has been blowing all day in the direction of that point. All the plankton and small critters will be blown into that spot. What feeds on the little stuff? Bait fish. So its a good chance that the bass will move in and feed on the bait fish. Sounds simple and it is, but My little peabrain would never think of it that way so, I had to get interested and Read up on Bass. Bassmaster is a good start. I like In fishermen. Then when you engage in dock talk with some one you can ask questions that other guys in the know do not mind to answer. They are not going to tell you the exact spot and even the exact lure. The worst thing you can do is go up to someone and say, Hey were did you get him and what did you get him on. When I catch a big fish believe me you will know the specifics. Hey I like to brag just like the next guy. Problem is I hardly get a big fish worth bragging about. But that is not going to stop me from fishing and that search for the great ol' biggun. Looking at the clock its time to watch the Tigers take care of the A's. Hey God Bless you all and Tight lines.

it also has alot to do with what the bass are feeding on. if its a big bass then it really might not care to much for little food. theres a good system out there that is ready to buy called the matrix i believe.. it puts in all into perspective. it basically tells you how where when and what to use for different situations.. its actually kind of cool. i dont have it and try to go off other peoples tips and the weather and what i think they are feeding on in that lake.. basically its just pattern fishing.. if you dont do it, you are never nailing quality bass..

This is exactly the thing that ticks me off when you are watching a fishing show on TV, They almost never tell you where they are, what time of the year it is, water depth, clarity or the temp. So what are you suppose to learn from watching????? How to cast your AZZ off?????????????????? :smash: :smash: :smash:
Also, I know that Bill Dance fishes private strip pits and those fish never saw a lure let alone are practically starving. His show does however give you most of the particulars.

You hardly see Bill Dance anywhere but his own lake anymore, I guess I can't blame him.

I Believe the biggest fish in a system like Hagg Lake which has alot of trout feed on them. Check out the california lakes. The problem with targetting huge bass with swimbaits is you are going to fish for one or two bites a day. And there may be days when you mat not get bit at all. I personally have not fished big trout swimbaits for big bass. I have used the smaller versions and have landed some fish, but no giants. Places like Lacamas lake come to mind. They stock trout. Some of those pigs have to be targetting them.Has any one targetted big bass with trout swimbaits?

i know silver lake is planted with rainbows pretty much to feed the bass. i havent tried swinbaits there yet, james put up a pick not to long ago where he caught a 3 pounder on a swimbait.
I have heard stories at Dorena where not only were giant bass targeting stocked rainbow trout, but they seemed to know when the truck was coming and were there waiting! DJD

Some guys from prineville at fern ridge last spring were photographing a big hen about 81/2 lbs that they had just caught on a large spinnerbait(more like a giant beetle spin), and she had about a 13 inch bullhead in her throat that she hadn't swallowed yet!
