If you were fishing say the lower Willamatte and could have only 3 Bass lures to use what would your choices be? i'm brand new to Bass fishin and see loads of lures in the store so am lookin for some successful beginner lure selections. Also do most of you run barbless hooks for safer release?

1) 3 inch green pumpkin senko with black flake.
2) Green pumpkin hula grub with black flake
3) Lipless crank in crawdad or blue and chrome.

I don't pinch my barbs down they are easy enough to release with them on.

I live in Salem but if you can find a Sportsman wharehouse or Gi Joes you should be able to find what you need. Dont forget to get crawfish smelly jelly to smear on your plastics.

If you want more info on rigging pm me.

I can't disagree with Clayton since he out fishes me but my top 3 are...

1) 3 inch green pumpkin senko with black flake dropshot rig.
2) crawdad colored 6-8 foot diving crankbait.
3) blue and chrome lipless crankbait.

Of course these are just my favorites for fall. In the spring I prefer spinnerbaits to crankbaits.

You can PM me if you want the brand names of the lures I use.

I never use barbless and only have trouble on one out of every 100 to 200 fish or so.

Geeze I can only pick THREE?

1. motor oil tube or red/orng brush bug, carolina rigged or texas pegged.
2. 3-4" smoke w/ red flake Alluring Trick Stick (senko clone)
3. Strike King SX1 in a perchy pattern. (similar to the short lipped Bandit).. Or maybe a series 3 for 10ft water.

3B. Black roostertail ( new safety pin style)

Clayton, how deep are you running those lipless cranks...and WHICH brand? I've done well in the spring w/ these but put them away for the summer and have never tried them in the fall.
I've got Diamond Shad, Frenzy's and Rattle Traps....do I recall something about Yozuri's????

#1: 4 or 5 inch drop-shotted or spit-shooted worm- any color and NOT a senko. #2: 5 inch lizard carolina rigged. #3: Your choice: 4 inch Optimum swimbait, light colored crankbait or a 4 inch grub.

Running them right near the top. I like the Rattlin and vibe Yozri. I bought one of the new drum ones and caught fish on them also but it is 3 bucks more than the rattlin vibe.

Couldn't find a Yozuri...did pick up a purty Rattin Rapala.

On top huh? To shore and back... or over sunken rock?

I mostly run them parallel to shore on rip rap. If I see a point or eddie I fancast them to cover as much water as I can. Flats I will fan cast them. I am always looking for something out of the ordinary to throw at.
