I am going to O'Dell on Weds. and was wondering if any one has been lately, we will be launching at daybreak from the east end of the lake and any help would be apprecited. This time of the year the beast should be very healthy. :food:

Troll 35 to 70' with green wedding rings (make your own), and jig pink and white jigs 2 to 3" and watch for the macks. I usually fish off of shelter cove. You will see the ski area (snow), sometime it can be good down to princess creek, I would launch from the west end, because it's a long ride to the west end and thats where the koke's are! I would love a report!

I spent last thursday through sunday camped at shelter cove, and unfortunately saw very little action. Several boats had no fish, we had few fish, some had more than us, but no one was having great success. the kokes aren't spawning up trapper creek yet, but the weather has been beautiful. Fish or no fish, I wish I was still up there.
Highlight of the weekend was a sixteen inch rainbow that took my wifes Kokanee rig as she brought it to the surface for a weed check. Hoo Boy, nothing like a hot fish close to the boat like that. She is still chuckling.

if you fish deep in 35-70' try using green glo beads on your wedding rings, this is more visible to the fish in the dark waters. because down deep alot of your lures look black.

Deeptrout and Wildthing, thanks for the information, I will let you know what happens.....and conrats. on the Rainbow, nothing like a Rainbow Trout, as my name indicates. If you don't mind where were you when the Trout attacked ? Thanks again.

:yeahthat:
My two large beads on both sides of the "ring" are glow beads and it does make a difference, the west end is a 5-10min ride from princess creek, no problem! Give it a try, if no luck at Pr. creek. I like to jig as soon as it's legal (in the am) and as soon as the bite goes down hill a little switch to trolling! And getting together :yeahthat: When I get some free time I'll pm ya, silver fishing thursday, friday and saturday with my kids!

we were coming up on the shallows west of princess creek at the time, I wasn't paying attention to the finder and ran us into 30' of water off one of the points. there is a big shelf on one of the points that can hold a few rainbows.
let us know if you see any spawning fish on trapper creek, anyone who has never been should get up there and see it when it is happening.

Made it home alive from O'Dell, just barely. Stopped off in Oakridge for a coffee before the run down Hwy. 58 and may have saved my life....major head on right at Deception creek, what a mess - not sure if there were any fatalities but it took three ambulance's and three tow trucks and four or five ODOT trucks, they closed the Hwy for 2 hours, if we hadn't of stopped for that coffee we would have been right in the middle of it.......Makes my report seem quite insignificant, the lake was flat and calm all morning long, we got there just before daybreak and didn't get the first fish until 9:00. Trolled wedding rings for the Koke's and jigged Nordic Jigs with white corn. One Koke that was it, on a Pink Jig with corn....jigging across from Trapper creek. Spent the remaining morning trolling Herring and Sardines for Lakers just below the schools of Koke's between 40 and 80 feet, with out even a strike. Bagged it at noon and went to Hills creek and what can I say,we wussed out, I saved a skunk at least for the day, O'Dell still skunked me but the day was salvaged by Land locked Salmon and Rainbows and even a Large Mouth Bass. There were only two other boats at O'Dell and one at Hills creek - some one knew to stay home and get there yard work done......any way. The water temp at O'Dell was 57 degrees and clarity was great, I could see the cannon ball at 25 feet. Tried for Rainbows and nothing, only thing I can think of is I must not have been holding my mouth right. The scenery was wonderful, the Vine Maples were fire red,and
the forest looked spectacular. Here are some pictures of the scenery, sorry not pictures of the limit of Koke's. Maybe next time. One more thing, not a puff of wind when we left it was still flat and gorgeous.
