Probably 99 percent of the time no. If I did it would be smelly jelly. It surely wouldn't hurt anything but with salty worms, power worms, ect... most have sents already added. Good luck :smash:

If I felt the need for "sent" on a "rubber lure", I'd use a postage meter that embosses the bait; doubt if stamps would hold in water.
I think that scents are a confidence issue and rarely use them myself. Altho, a few weeks ago when Elken was giving me a spanking while DSing at Oxbow rez, I did squeeze some Power Bait into a tube which did seem to help.

I very rarely use scent. I have been known to be desperate though and tried just about anything.

I use Yum crawfish scent or Smelly Jelly. I do not think that it "attracts" fish but only helps to cover other scents. I would say that if you smoke, use suntan lotion, or get gas on you hands it is better to use a scent to cover the smell. But if you hands smell like fish it really doesn't matter.

Then again I watched a Walleye guide put suntan lotion on a nightcrawler and then hook up on a walleye 5 mins later, so who knows?

I always use scent. I believe it makes the fish hold on to the bait longer and may cover some foul odors.

If it helps you catch one more fish than you would of with out it then it works.

I have had many people in my boat say it does not work by the end of the trip I am passing them the bottle to the back of the boat.

I have used smelly jelly, crave, bang, hot sauce, power bait and yum. They all seem to help. I like smelly jelly because it stays on the bait in the current better than bang or yum.

I like crave in the slower water, but it does stain the heck out of your boat with purple and green flakes and is very hard to wash off.

In the summer I prefer the spray on attractants because the petrolem based ones get all liquidy and runny.

It seems a lot of studies have shown that human scent is a deterrent to fish, but I've seen no studies that say anything negative about scent, so I'll usually add a small amount to most baits, although I don't think it's as important on reaction baits.

I am a big believer in scent & salt for finese fishing plastics. Even for walleye a marinated Seducer worm will produce as well as the real thing.

I have some garlic salted baby Brush Bugs (brushhawg knock off) that produce better than plain tubes...doubt it's all the shape differances.

And my Alurring Baits trick sticks (senko) are spiked w/ anise, they do me better than Yamamoto's.

Yea, I think scent does make a differance.
Never used any on reaction baits though.

I was watching a show on bass fishing and the guy was using sent on his tube and the fish would hang on longer.

i like to take a small piece of cotton soak it in the scent. put it in the tub then put in the jighead, then i put another squirt in the tube. i really like it for tubes as smallie usually spit them pretty quick!
