Mark i will most certianly pray for you..but remember one thing that might help...If you have ask the lord to take controll of your life and you have repented of your sins...that means aknowlege you are a sinner and ask the Lord for his mercy and grace to forgive you . he will forgive your past sins, your presant sins and your future sins. Temptation is not a sin, Crist was tempted. You must ask your self "am i putting my self in temtations way, or is it putting itself in my way?". are you involved in things that you cant control through temptation. Also remember God has chosen you even with your faults, he dosent make junk!, I dont care what Satan has been telling you you have been chosen for a "Royal preist hood" you are a child of a King, and you will live forever, walking on streets that are golden. forever!. and he knows you will be tempted and "Fail". We cannot and will not work our way into heaven. but you can take responsability if you put your self in temptations way or not. believe me temptation will find you, you dont have to look for it. and when you do fail your father still loves you, you will loose some test and you will win some test. you will be tested and tried all through life. but remember your are saved , being saved, will be saved. Its good to have a concerning heart about sin. and i will pray that if temptations come your way, which they will, you will have power through the Holy Sprit, to over come. and if you dont you do and always will have a lovging heavenly Father who will pick you up and forgive you ALWAYS!....Lord Bless!

Big ditto to what LimitLander wrote. I would suggest reading the story of the prodigal son slowly and prayerfully. It's helped me a lot. We're all tempted, and that's not sinful. We've all sinned. God will welcome us with open arms when we return to him in repentence.

I'll pray too. Do you have a Pastor? You might consider talking things over with him. It really helps to be in consistent fellowship with other believers in a local church too. The principle is "iron sharpens iron". Another thing to take a look at is water baptism. If you never have been baptized in water, it will help. Water baptism according to Romans 6, 7, 8 helps in the struggle with the sinful nature. None of us could walk in consistent victory without the Lord's help.

GP is absolutely correct. Baptism conveys grace to help you resist temptation. Another thing that can help you is confession of your sins to a minister, on a regular basis. It holds you accountable, not to the minister, but to yourself and to God.

I have a website for just this sort of thing. It talks about repentance and drawing near to God -- in practical terms.

There is a lot of material but applying the principles have helped me a lot. The web address is in my signature. If you want the ebooks write to my email address on the website and I will give them to you (but don't tell anybody  ). The heart-training is helpful.

The basic idea is that we have learned to feed our need for God in earthly ways. It also explains how to turn our heart toward God and how to feed on Him.

Mark, I will also pray for you.

You are also a warrior. A warrior for God. As you awake everyday of your life here on earth, you begin a new battle for Christ. The spiritual warfare is real. Therefor you must train. Train like your life depended upon it. Cause it does. There are others out there who are struggling just like you who need you. That is why you cannot fight alone. You need your band of brothers to fight alongside you, to pick you up when you fall. And we need you to do the same for us. There is only one you & God made you the way you were meant to be cause he needed you exactly as you are. When you fight the enemy you fight him with not your power and streght but with God's. Because he has given you the authority to use his power & Satan is totally unable to resist. When you feel temptation, immediatly rebuke it in the name of Jesus & remember you are a warrior! If you havn't already, find a group of men that will watch your back & help you grow in your faith.
