:help:Lost my favorite Lami rod and Curado SF reel....off the back of the boat.(long story, don't ask it will depress you) The bad deal is I know where it's at 54 feet down at the bottom of the lake.
 The question is should I go dive for it?(I'm certified) Just wanted a read on how long it could last under water and not be junk? Is two weeks too long....it just kills me because I know right where it is. :bricks:

I would say dive for it! I have found fishing poles that have been down longer than two weeks and they where fine.

Assuming that all the wraps on the rod are in good repair the only thing that should have a chance to go bad is the cork handle. Assuming also that the reel is well lubricated with a water resistant grease it should last quite a long time. I "lost" a telescoping rod and spinning reel only to find it several weeks later submerged in melted ice in a cooler. I took it all apart, left it out to dry, went over all the metal with very fine (400 grit if I remember) sandpaper and regreased it all. The rod handle was a bit different. I had to soak it in bleach water over night and then let it dry to kill the fungus/mold spores on it. After that it was all as good as new.

It should be fine, just as others said, dry it and clean it really good.

Did you mark the spot it went down? Hopefully it's weedy there and not too silty, otherwise it could be buried.
