Last month on the way to Odell I saw a bunch of people fishing around the Covered bridge on Dexter Reservoir. On the way back we stopped to look at the bridge and noticed there are hundreds of sizable fish in the water under the bridge. I could not get any to bite, so I have to ask: What are those fish? Many of them looked like Pikeminnows, but not all.

Could you tell if any were bass?

No I could not. They seemed to be feeding on something, just not crappie jigs.

You should have thrown a swim bait.

I believe your correct in that they are Pike Minnows. Their are Small Mouth and Large Mouth in there but around the Bridge they are probably Pike Minnows. Some are very nice size, try a 1/2 oz. chrome Spoon (Krocodile). They can be a lot of fun.

I have caught too many nice size pike minnow throwing topwater this time of year at Dexter. The darn things won't leave it alone long enough for the smallies to hit.
