Pride and shame. you never knew they were sisters, yet they appear so different. Pride puffs out her chest. Shame hanges her head. Pride boast. Shame hides. Pride seeks to be seen. Shame seeks to be avoided. but dont be fooled, the emotions have the same parentage. and the emotions have the same impact. they keep you from Christ. Pride says "your to good for him". Shame says "your to bad for him". Pride drives you away. Shame keeps you away. If Pride goes before a fall then Shames keeps you from getting up after one. Lets take a look at the rich young ruler that came to Christ asking "what must i do to be saved" (now this is not a story about what you do if you have a lot of money, its a story about if money has alot of you) Christ tells him to believe in the commandments, the rich man says which ones and then tells Jesus i have done that sence i was young, then Christ tells him to sell everything he has, give it to the poor and follow him. very simple yet so hard when you have the "PRIDE" of life living within you. The rich man wouldnt give to his fellow man and he wouldnt let Christ be his master. Now lets look at Peter he saw Christ do some of the most unbealiveable things healings, walking on water raising the dead, but yet denined his Master 3 times. He hid in "SHAME" thinking he lost out, he was finished, but he was restored by our wonderful Lord. and was one of the most highly respected leaders of the early church. so if you feel that you have shamed the Lord in any way, you may think you have ran 100 miles from Crist it only takes one step....to come back!
