Today while fishing the Sanntiam a vary dear friend of mine had his passing. He and his brother spent the day fishing and he landed a vary nice summer steelhead (with a banana in the boat) and was just waiting to rub it in. When they got to the ramp at the end of the day he let his brother out to go get the truck and trailer, as he put the boat in reverse he fell over backwards and died of a massive heart atack. I told him banana's were not a good thing. He will be missed. He was a good man and had a big heart, a fishing buddy anyone would be happy to spend the day with. I think he went in a good way. A good day of fishing with his brother. I know god he is with God now. Thanks. God bless.

I am the fellow that was in the drift boat running diver just above when he went down. I spun around and helped push his boat to shore with mine. Called 911 and returned him and his boat to the ramp for medical assistance. Anouther fisherman applied CPR while we returned to the ramp. Man what a jaring experiance. My heart goes out to his wife and family.

With all the talk on this board about PFD's, life insurance, and retirement, an incident like this brings home the point "Are you ready to stand before God when your last drift has been made?" Death escapes none of us and if ya wait until it happens....you've waited too long. No second chances. The book God Himself wrote says; Confess your sin to Him, Repent, or turn in the opposite direction, and His promise to you is unconditional forgiveness and eternal life. The only thing you can take to heaven with you is your friends...and as we all know, good fishin buds are hard to find.
