Well, here goes, "Who is God fighting for in the Middle East?"
Ok, as a Christian our primary citizenship is in Heaven and belongs to no nation on earth. Phil 3:20
The Bible say, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." Psa 33:12, 1 Peter 2:4-10
However, the nation of which he speaks is not the USA!
But as "resident aliens" (I Peter 2:11) here and now we have been called to submit to our leaders. Further yet to honor them and to pray for all who are in authority for peace and for the salvation of all people. 1 Tim 2:1-7
We must not make God our mascot. Sometimes we misjudge war and, even more so, we misjudge the Lord. Remember, 1 Samuel 4:1-10, when the Philistines defeated the Israelites. We also attempt to cling to God's symbols as our lucky charms. This is seen in regards to the Ark. 1 Samuel 4:11. It is also seen in the temple. Jer 7:1-12
So, we ask the question that Joshua asked, "are you for us or for our enemies." Josh 5:13-14
The answer is the same, neither.
We ask what nation is God standing behind? When we really should ask, what nation is standing behind God?
There is a promise of God to bless, and provide and protect.
God's "most favored nation" status with all of the blessings and promises that includes is granted NOT by the color of a nation's flag but rather by the hearts of a nation's people.
I pray Lord that today for the ruthless leaders we are fighting with. I pray that their hearts will be broken and their minds will be opened to wisdom. Dear Lord, touch the hearts of these people and make them see true sacrifice and the ransom paid.
Amen

Krue,
"I slip, I fall, I ask for mercy.
I get up and carry on" So true almost profound.
My body is brused with all of my falls. I don't even visit LIG anymore because of my passion that so many times is contrary to whats being said. Our rule book is not the same as the worlds. It kinda parallels what our USA military goes through in this war, that being we submit to standard rules of ingagement but the enemy respects no rules.
Stay strong, and to answer your question, The God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob is on the right side and that is our side, The USA.

Les,
I love ya man, but what you said about God being on our side is exactly what the sermon, I listened to Sunday, preached against.
You see, the Hebrews thought they could sin and turn their backs on God, but then, when the moment was right, they could summon him up by using God's icon (the Ark, the Temple). But what happened is that God did not stand for that. When the Hebrews brought forth the Ark into battle against the Philistines, God allowed the Philistines to overrun the Hebrews, slaughter them, and then to add insult, God allowed Shiloh, where the Ark was at originally kept, to be burned to the ground!
God is behind no earthly nation, however, we as a Nation must stand behind God.
Look at our nation's morals. Then compare them to 2 Tim 3:1. Doesn't that sound like Hollywood and NYC being described?
We are allowing a small % of people to dictate policy. One would think that every other person in America was Gay by the way the Government kneels and scrapes. When in reality Gays are about 3% of out population. However, major people who have charismatic power over others, such as the film business, have us believing there is this huge consensus about the rightness of being Gay. However, the reality is that most Christian people, who are a major % of the US population, would not condone homosexuality. But do see huge parades with people carrying signs saying, “Hey, I think sodomy will land you in hell!”. No, you don’t see it because people are afraid to speak out and say they do not agree with it. Why? Because the advocates that control public opinion will sweep down and make that person seem evil. Funny, isn’t it?
Before, I get flamed or the PC police kick in my door, or I get labeled, let me make this clear, I am not saying that homosexuals are bad only that I disagree that it is "right" in God's eyes for them to engage in homosexual behavior (IMHO).
So, as our country turns it face away and does not refute the sinful, arrogant, and blaspheming ways of others, so goes our path away from the Lord.
I for one would not be surprised if God abandoned this country, I mean, haven't we abandoned God? When was the last time you hit your knees and prayed? I mean broken-hearted, knee bent, and full acknowledgement of God's awesome power prayer? Maybe it’s time for all Christians in this country to hit their knees.
I don’t know I am a worthless sinner saved only by grace and judged only by my Savior.
Humbly,
In Christ,
Loren

I'm still having problems with being angry and feelings about retribution. I believe that God's will be done but I still get upset about the things in the news etc..
Thanks GP,

Krue,
Great stuff and I do agree with all of what you have said.
A point I have to make is the fact that our great nation has been in a moral decline over the past decade. Myself and many other Christians hit their knees in prayer when we had a God fearing man running for President and God answered with Bush becoming our President. When the leader of a country (BUSH) begins to turn a nation back toward Christian values God will have a greater grace toward us. Will God give us victory in every battle in Iraq? Maybe not. Will God give us the overall war victory? Again maybe not, but what I can tell you for sure is God is 100% on the side of righteousness. Our Awesome God has a battle plan and we my brother only see it through a small keyhole. Let's continue to hold each other up in righteousness and brotherly love. God is on our side!
I would join you in a week of fasting and prayer for our Nation,President, and our service men and women. If your interested e-mail me.
In Jesus

Again I love ya man, but if I don't eat with my new medicine I'll die
So, let's stick to prayer and I'll meet you in the middle.
