I wanted to breifly let everyone know about a christian camp up in Alaska. It is on the upper Yukon and can only be reached by boat. The closest town is the city of Gelina and is a two hour boat ride away. Every year kids from all over the yukon, both eskimo and Indian, attend this camp for a week long period. There are three camps, one highschool camp, one junio high, and one for the little ones. My wife and I will be up there this summer for 10 of the days helping out with the camp. Several other people at our church, Good shepherd community church, will also be up there for the entire camp. I was speaking to our pastor last week to find out if they needed any gear for fishing and he said they definantly do. They take the counselors and campers out fishing for shee-fish, sp?, and use poles that are for the most part broken. He said that the majority of their poles they use are shorter than they originally were. I think they were bi-mart specials....
Anyway, I am going to try and wrap up some rods to take up there this summer and was wondering if anyone else had any good rods or reels that they would like to donate. Our Pastor wasn't sure what length the poles are that they use, but said the fish range between 6-10 lbs.
Please email me at nathanboos@yahoo.com if you'd like to help out in anyway or have any questions. I'll also check this thread so feel free to post a response on here. thanks!

NW Redside,
I do not have any extra rods or reels, But I will pray that God will provide some that you can take with you. Good Shepard comm. Church is this the one east of Gresham off of HWY. 26. GREAT CHURCH.
I call the Baptist Church on Jarl Rd. home. May God richly bless you for giving of your self to those kids.

DAB, yes you are thinking of the right church.
I am amazed by the genersity of Jim on this board. He is a local guide and is donating a ton of stuff to the camp. He went above and beyond what I thought anyone would give, and is supplying the camp with virtually everything they will need. The kids are going to love it! Thanks Jim!!!!
