If you read on in that posting you will see the answer. NADA values are worthless, they are not anywhere near real market value for aluminum sleds. You will find there are quite a few manufacturers that are not on NADA. Shane

so then shane, what is your solution to finding out the value of ones property? where does one get an independent appraisal. really, dont mean to take up your time shane. dont put yourself out.

sorry shane i didnt bother to read all the way down the original thread. still, up here they use nada for just about everything. i like my sled but i wondered about selling it and maybe buying a newer model when i come outside to OR this winter. i dont know really what its worth. i like it. it doesnt seem as straight forward as selling a truck or car.

When I was looking, I looked into buying a Duckworth. Before I knew how worthless the NADA listing was for these boats I tried finding them there. Long story short, I finally got to the duckworth/ renassaince (sp?) boats website, got there number and called and asked them where to get a value for one of there used boats. There reply was to look at boattraderonline.com. Not much help. I guess they just wanted me to look at the prices for similar models of Duckworths and use my own judgement.

I'm in the process of determing the value of our old tow trailer, and just learned that both Kelley Blue Book and NADA have "consumer" and "dealer" versions of their trailer/RV books, the books quote different values for the same item, and the benefit is to a dealer. The claim is that some banks have access to the "dealer" books, and consumers (like us) should seek these out to get much fairer values. I have not researched the consumer v. dealer games that get played with boats.
