Tahoe Macinaw fishing and fun over the weekend with family. We went fishing saturday for 5 hours and sunday for 4.5 hours.
Saturday my son Billy and a friend Don Romine from Nevada fished on the troll at 120 feet with grubs and caught one macinaw and shifted to jigging and caught 2.
Sunday my son Billy and a friend Dan Nardoni from Fremont drove up and fished with us for 2 fish while jigging.
Took family on boat trips for a fantastic weekend. I made a video of some of the action. 3.6 MB

Note the jig set up was a 1 x 4 inch colored flat lead jig with a snap at the end of it. We used a bull head double hook through the minnow and then attached a #2 treble and the bullhead hook to the snap. The minnow was threaded with the bullhead double hook. One barb of the treble then held the minnow by the shoulder. Jigging technique was to first locate the schools at 120 feet then go to the bottom where they were and raise about 5 feet then do one foot jigs while maintainng contact with the lure for the tell tell bite then whack.

Nice---I lived at Tahoe for 17 years and fished these guys a bit. Went out with Mickey Daniels out of Tahoe City on the Big Mac and Big Mac II a couple times, then on my own. We usually set out a minnow trap the night before and got chubs to use the next AM and threaded them with a darning needle and rode a treble out the anus. Trolled them live which is illegal here. I have a few methods of my own for Oregon since moving here 11 years ago. Heres one from Crescent last year.

Note some of the updated windows media player should play it.

fish-on-bend~Wow nice fish

Yes fishing with family and friends is really nice. The weather was perfect. 45 degrees at daylight and up to 70 during the day. Wind minimum.

Or if you don't like the way Quicktime nags you every time you start it up you can download Quicktime Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm) and install that. Works great. Google Real Alternative for a version that plays Real Media content as well.
