Impeller shimming?

Sucked some rocks in the pump,even had to dig one wedged in the impeller.Pulled the shoe off,the liner and impeller.Shimmed 2 washers to the top,put impeller and liner on,dont have feller guages.Checked clearance with post it note,it fit between liner and impeller,is that to much clearance or not enough and how tight do you tighten the nut to the impeller.Go easy on me please it's my first pump

Try 3 post it notes. Tighten the nut to around 50 ft. lbs. or good and tite.

boat doc - whats 3 post it notes on a guage? and is it the same for stainless?

we set them at .015, about three post it notes.

Thanks fellas,I think I can dig up 2 more post it's. Does 50 ft lbs convert to about half to three quarters of a grunt?
