Mercruiser Impeller replacement ???'s

I have 1999 7.4 mercruiser with about 150 hours on the raw water pump impeller. I'm not having any water flow issues, but how often should this be replaced?

The last time I had it replaced, the old one with 140 hours had some slight wear on the contact surfaces but was not chewed up at all.

Have you called a Merc dealer and ask them? It's not real expensive to have done and maybe could save you a bigger bill later? Perhaps, better to be safe than sorry? Can't walk home with a boat.

I replaced it myself. Merc recommends 100 hours or so. Other dealers say every season. I'm going to leave it be until I get ready to winterize. I only want to hang my head upside down into the engine compartment once this year! Thanks for the reply.
