I post often about fishing, which boat to buy, etc. But yesterday evening we were notified that my husband's best friend since childhood--and someone who we both considered a brother--SFC Richard J. Henkes II, was killed in battle in Iraq. Whether or not you support the war or support our soldiers, please take a moment to remember in your prayers Rich and all of the soldiers and their families for the sacrifices they make. Rich leaves behind a 5yo daughter. We are completely devastated by the loss, and I know each and every one of us, if we all pray hard enough, can affect change in our world.

Thank you, and God bless-

I am so sorry for your loss, as well as our countries lost. I think a lot of citizen say, but I must question their heart, that they support these brave souls who give the ultimate.

May God have mercy on Richards soul and comfort and bless you guys, his wife and daughter.

Praying for Richs' family and loved ones. May they find peace and serenity through our Lord.

"I walked along this road again
And thought of all the times before -
When I was young and life was sweet
We'd never heard the word called "war".

Sweet blossom hung down from the trees,
We walked together to our school,
We played with friends out in the fields,
We sailed our boats upon the pool.

We grew, we worked, we met our wives.
We each had children of our own.
We brought them up as honest folk -
The future was to all unknown.

Such solemn news came on the air
We sat and stared and could not speak.
Our children went to fight a war
And all were lost within a week.

I walked along this road again
My heart contained a heavy weight.
I thought of all those children lost
By human greed, by human hate."

Thanks to everyone for your prayers. Although I've never met any of you personally, I feel blessed to have so many kind hearts praying for our friend Rich and his family.
