My Grandfather has given me a 26' Navy Motorwhale boat. It's a 1985 Uniflite. He has three of them but only one trailer. So after a new coat of bottom paint I'll be in the market for a trailer. Any suggestions. It is all open with the 2 heavy weather bulkheads. This winter I'd really like to put some sort of cabin on it. I invision using it for fishing and just chugging around with the family. I just have not decided how much cabin I want, I've seen some pretty ugly conversions. How open or enclosed the wheel house should be for the Pacific NW. Thanks.

Had to find out what a Navy Motor Whaleboat looked like.
Is this a good example?

BTW, welcome to Ifish! :wave:http://www.ifish.net/gallery/data/500/Navy_Whaleboat.JPG

It's more like this. Not quite as restored though. :depressed: http://www.usswisconsin.org/Miscellaneous/Misc.%20Pictures/BB64%20Whaleboat/010%20BB-64%20Whaleboat%2026MW8550.JPG

For 20 years I had the privelige of riding on similar boat's while headed into various liberty ports. From experience I think I would just go with a canvas encloseure over the front half similar to what the Navy still uses. This will keep everyone in front warm and dry, and still give you plenty of room to fish in the back. Possibly talk to the Coast Guard, I'm sure they can give you some idea's for staying dry.
